HARRIET LERNER, Ph.D.

Harriet Lerner, Ph.D., is one of the world’s most respected voices on the psychology of women and family relationships. For more than two decades, Lerner was a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, and a faculty member of the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry. She currently has a private practice in Lawrence, Kansas.

Lerner is the author of ten books, including the New York Times bestseller, The Dance of Anger. There are more than thirty foreign language editions of her work. She is an award winning author of children’s books with her sister, including the recent Franny B. Kranny, There’s a Bird in Your Hair! Her latest book is The Dance of Fear: Rising Above Anxiety, Fear and Shame To Be Your Best and Bravest Self.

Lerner is an internationally renowned lecturer and consultant who has been published widely here and abroad, in professional journals, as well as popular magazines. She has appeared on numerous national radio and television programs including Oprah, CNN, and NPR. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post and many other publications. For more than a decade, her monthly advice column appeared in New Woman magazine. She has a column in Imagine, the new, independent magazine.

MARILYN MASON, Ph.D.

Marilyn Mason, Ph.D., is the President of Mason & Associates, a consultant and author in Santa Fe who brought her 25 years as a family psychologist and University of Minnesota faculty into leadership, governance and executive development in organizations. She is an internationally recognized consultant and speaker. She consults frequently with families of old and new high net worth, family-owned businesses, family offices and private foundations to facilitate governance, grantmaking, next generation training, board development and strategic planning. Former faculty at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Mason served as a Dean for The Learning Academy Foundation and is an Associate with Family Philanthropy Advisors.

Marilyn co-authored Facing Shame: Families in Recovery, then wrote Making Our Lives Our Own: A Woman’s Guide to the Six Challenges of Personal Change. Her book Seven Mountains: Life Lessons from a Climber’s Journal was followed by Igniting the Spirit at Work. The founder/director of Journeys Inward, Marilyn leads cross cultural wilderness “inventures” in many corners of the world.

Dr. Mason’s work has been recognized in The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The St. Paul Pioneer Press, and The Los Angeles Times. She has appeared five times on The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN Television, and public radio.
